Bite Problems
Bite problems come in a number of different forms, and these oral health conditions can be caused or exacerbated by several factors. Sometimes, malformed jaws, tooth loss, or genetic issues cause bite pattern problems. In other cases, thumb sucking and extended pacifier use can interfere with tooth alignment.
Common bite pattern conditions include:
- Over Bite: Alignment issue where the upper teeth protrude much farther than the lower teeth
- Under Bite: Alignment issue where the lower teeth protrude farther than the upper teeth
- Cross Bite: Alignment issue where the upper teeth fit into the inner curve of the lower teeth
- Crowding: Alignment issue where teeth are crowded together and crooked
- Spacing: Abnormal spacing between teeth
- Protrusion of Teeth: Alignment issue where the front teeth are tilted forward toward the lips
- Open / Deep Bite: Alignment issue that causes the upper and lower teeth to either not touch or overlap at all, or the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth too much

Your treatment begins. This is when your smile is transformed. At this appointment, any old restorations and decay are removed, and the underlying teeth made healthy and rebuilt. Care is taken by our doctors to save as much of the healthy teeth as possible. Impressions are made of the new structure, and beautiful temporary teeth are artistically sculpted by the doctor, so when you walk out of our office after the first visit you have a new smile!
