Invisalign in Aurora

Many patients feel discouraged by the idea of traditional braces to correct their smile, partly due to the inconveniences associated with braces and partly because they don’t like how the brackets make them look.

Fortunately, another solution is available, one that makes it easy for patients to achieve a perfect smile effectively and discreetly. Signature Dentistry Centennial proudly offers Invisalign, a solution that allows patients to achieve perfectly aligned smiles without the use of traditional metal or ceramic brackets.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an alignment option that utilizes clear plastic trays instead of traditional metal or ceramic brackets. When a patient chooses Invisalign, he or she receives a series of fitted trays they wear for several weeks before switching to the next progressive tray in the series. Each tray moves the teeth little by little into the desired position, and unlike braces, these trays can be easily removed for eating, drinking, and oral hygiene.

Who is Invisalign for?

Invisalign trays and traditional braces serve a similar purpose and are equally as effective. Both bring a patient’s smile into proper alignment throughout a specific timeline. The Invisalign system is recommended for patients with:

  • Crooked Teeth
  • Gaps in Teeth
  • Crowded Teeth
  • Bite Pattern Issues

Invisalign is a more discreet and convenient option when it comes to achieving a perfect smile. However, not all patients are a good fit for Invisalign. Call Signature Dentistry Centennial today to schedule an evaluation consultation to see if Invisalign is a good fit for you and your unique dental situation.

Initiating Invisalign Treatment

Once Dr. Bennett or Dr. Khanjari have performed an exam and determined you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, using their state of the art 3D CBCT scanner, they take multiple images of the patient’s skull, mouth, neck and jaw bone structure. This, in addition to impressions and photographs, are used to design a virtual series of clear alignment trays, which are then manufactured in a laboratory.

When the trays are ready, the patient returns and is fitted with their first set of aligners. Proper care and instructions are discussed, as failure to adhere to these throughout the entire treatment process can dramatically impact the effectiveness of the treatment.

Then a series of strategically timed follow up appointments are scheduled so Dr. Bennett or Dr. Khanjari can monitor the progress. The number and frequency of these visits is much fewer than traditional braces, making Invisalign a much more convenient option for busy patients.

What Are the Steps Involved With Invisalign?

Step 1

First, you’ll meet with our dentist to discuss your smile goals and address your concerns regarding your tooth alignment.

During the same initial consultation, our dental team will examine your teeth and mouth, collect a few X-rays, perform a 3D scan, and take photographs of your teeth and smile. We’ll use the images we collected to determine whether you’re a good candidate for Invisalign.

Step 2

Your photos, scans, X-rays, and impressions will be scanned into our computer so that our team can refer to them when creating a virtual model of your mouth. Using this model, we’ll create a fully-customized series of clear aligner plans.

After examining and evaluating the model for accuracy and quality assurance, we’ll use the virtual model to manufacture the physical aligner trays you’ll wear throughout your treatment.

Step 3

After we’ve completed the creation of your aligners, you’ll return to our office for a fitting appointment. During this visit, the dentist will insert the first tray into your mouth to determine whether it fits properly.

From there, the dental team will go over all the instructions you need to follow during your treatment. This includes walking you through which aligner trays will be worn during each phase of the tooth alignment process.

The aligners come in a set and they’re meant to be worn in a sequence. Each aligner tray will slightly shift your teeth into place before the next one takes the former’s place.

Invisalign is a fully-customized tooth alignment process, and each treatment is designed to fit the patient’s unique needs. Be sure to follow the dentist’s instructions for the best possible results. Instructions will include how to clean your aligners, how often to change each tray, and other health and safety protocols to adhere to.

You will continue to visit our office throughout your treatment so that our dental team can monitor your progress until you have completed treatment. At the end of your treatment, you’ll have your new, beautifully aligned smile!

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign provides numerous benefits over traditional braces, including:

  • Discretion: the aligners are clear, practically invisible
  • Speed: Invisalign is often faster than metal braces
  • Fewer Appointments: the progressive aligners are given in batches, so the patient switches to the next at home and only a couple follow up appointments are needed throughout the entire treatment.
  • Less Discomfort: the trays are gentler and less painful than metal braces
  • Convenience: trays can be removed for eating and drinking and special occasions
  • Better Hygiene: the trays are simply removed for normal oral hygiene, eliminating the need to try and brush around brackets.
