Dental Implants

Dental implants are a secure, permanent solution to correcting damage done to an individual’s smile. Because dental implants feel and function like natural teeth they are a great restorative option for patients looking for a permanent solution with a natural tooth feel. Dental implants restore the structure and appearance of a person’s face and remove flaws that come with tooth loss, broken teeth, decay, or severe wear.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants work by imitating your mouth’s natural structure, function and appearance, and because they fuse to the bone structure itself, they are an extremely sturdy restoration.

The implant itself is a cylinder made out of high-quality, biocompatible titanium. This piece is surgically implanted into the patient’s jawbone by an oral surgeon and over time it heals and fuses to the bone, the same way a natural tooth root would. Once the implanted component has healed, a porcelain crown is fabricated to match the size, shade, and shape of your other teeth for a seamless look. This crown anchors to the implant and creates a natural feeling and fully functional, beautiful new tooth.

Who Are Dental Implants for?

Dental implants can be used to correct an array of dental problems, so if you suffer from one of the issues mentioned below, you can take advantage of permanent, functional solutions you may not have thought possible before.

This procedure may be applied to correct the following issues:

  • Broken or Cracked Teeth
  • Poor-fitting Dentures
  • Collapsed Facial Appearance
  • Old, Deteriorated Dental Work
  • Missing Teeth
  • Severe Periodontal Disease
  • Difficulty Biting, Chewing, and Eating

Dental implants are most ideal for individuals who are missing teeth, because not only does this procedure restore the appearance of a patient’s smile, but it also fully restores the natural function of the mouth.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental Implants are beneficial for your overall oral health if you are missing teeth. When a missing tooth is replaced with a dental implant it prevents other teeth from drifting into the space, which can cause bite problems, misalignment, and a higher chance of losing more teeth. Even one missing tooth, such as a back molar, can cause this cascade of problems. The benefits of dental implants include:

  • Appears and functions like natural teeth
  • Supports the teeth and stabilizes the bite
  • Allows you to eat what you want
  • Allows for worry free chewing
  • Enhances your appearance, smile, and confidence
  • A solution that can last for decades or a lifetime

What Are the Steps in Dental Implants?

Creating beautiful implants that can last a lifetime takes planning, expertise, and a team of experienced professionals. The team at Signature Dentistry Centennial, has been successfully replacing missing teeth with dental implants for over twenty years. While the process takes a few months to complete, the end result and benefits make it well worth it. The process of having a dental implant done has two distinct steps:

Step 2

Surgical – This step consists of planning your customized dental implant solution to fit your unique situation. Restoration – After a few months, once your dental implant has fused to the jawbone, you will return to have an impression taken of the implant. This will be used by the dental laboratory technician to create a precise connector and crown for the implant, matching your natural teeth’s color, shape, size, and bite. When you return to our office a few weeks later we anchor the final prosthesis to the implants and complete restoration of the natural teeth. Our doctors take time at this appointment to get the fine details of your bite and smile feeling and looking great . Implants, if maintained properly, can last for decades or even a lifetime.
